SEED Homes win Hay on Earth Award

10th June 2010

Friday June 4th.

We are very proud to announce that SEED Homes has been awarded the 2010 Hay on Earth Award under the Communities & Homes category at the Hay Festival on Friday 4th June 2010.

SEED was announced the winner as the most engaging, practical and visionary project  from 7 shortlisted groups during a Dragon's Den style competition where a selected panel along with the audience voted for the best project. The award was presented by Jane Davidson, Welsh Assembly Minster for Environment, Sustainability and Housing to Edward Bulmer and Peter Lawley of SEED Homes at the end of the event.

The award takes the form of a £10,000 Sustainable Development Challenge grant funded by the Welsh Assembly Government. SEED pitched an exciting development project which will involve a new building at a leading Eco-Centre in Wales. This building will be available for educational purposes, both as a static display and as a dynamic tool. Students will be able to monitor the building's performance and SEED will be able to trial new design options, heating and ventilation systems and materials.
